Preserve position when opening compound or multicam clips

PostMon Apr 28, 2025 3:49 am

Hi all, relatively new Resolve user here, beginning the exciting but arduous migration from premiere. I'm trying to adapt my workflow and have come across a missing feature. Let me know if there is a better place to post this.

When opening a Compound Clip or Multicam Clip from the timeline, Resolve should place the playhead at the same timecode position relative to the clip’s internal timeline. Currently, when a compound clip is open the playhead remains at its previous position, forcing manual navigation to match the previously viewed frame. Maintaining the playhead position would drastically improve editing speed, continuity, and precision when working with complex timelines.

This behaviour should be consistent across both Compound Clips and Multicam Clips, ensuring seamless transitions between the main timeline and nested timelines.

This has been corrected in version 20, currently available as a Beta.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
