Changing Frame Rate for Broadcast Delivery

PostSat Apr 26, 2025 5:47 pm

I have a film that I need to deliver for broadcast. It was created with a 24fps frame rate but I need to deliver at 29.97. Is there a preferred method for doing this (e.g. creating a new 29.97 timeline or change frame rate on deliver page)?

But do you need 29.97 progressive, intrrlaced, or drop frame?

I'm guessing interlaced or drop frame.

Drop frame, but does that make a difference for method? Both methods allow you to choose.

Those aren’t all mutually exclusive options. It should be two separate questions.
1. Interlaced or Progressive?
2. Drop frame or non-drop frame?

Interlaced and drop-frame.

Got it. And is your source 24.00 or 23.976?

I'd make a framerate conversion 24p>23,976p and then a pulldown 23,976p->29,97i.

Is there a preferred method for doing this (e.g. creating a new timeline or changing the frame rate on the deliver page)? Is one of those methods any different than the other?

In version 20 at least, there is a (3/2) option available for Frame Rate on the Deliver page.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
