Group nodes - Version 19 changed behaviour

PostTue Nov 19, 2024 11:56 am

I've always worked with groups a lot, so switching between pre-, clip and post-group grades is something I do a lot.

The one thing I've always wished for and still hope BM will implement is shortcuts to jump between clip and group nodes on the Node panel. That would be REALLY convenient.

But now with version 19 I noticed that it got slightly more inconvenient. For some reason, when I'm grading a clip that belongs to a group, then I jump to another clip which is not in any group, the Node panel jumps to TIMELINE grade. Why?!

I've tried to look all around for a way to change this behaviour, I'm certain V.18 didn't behave this way. When jumping from a group to a non-grouped clip, it would go to CLIP nodes. Timeline makes no sense.

Any tips would be very welcome.

To me that sounds like an unintended change. Thanks for finding it!

I couldn't duplicate this.

When I switched form a Post-Group clip to a clip without a group, it went back to the Clip grade, not forward to Timeline.

The documentation explains the changes in this way:

I'm on MacOS. What I'm doing: I'm on Post-Group grading the shot. The previous shot on the timeline has no group. I move the playhead to it, the node view jumps to Timeline. Even if I go back to the grouped shot, it stays on timeline. Every time I go from grouped to non-grouped shot, I have to manually go back to the correct node view (either Clip or one of the Group layers).

I'm afraid this is unrelated to my issue. But thanks for the tip!

Hi!
I'd wish to double the request here.
Also working a lot with groups, as I need to work as fast as possible on documentaries with lots of scenes, or music shows.
This issue of Resolve switching to Timeline node when moving to a non-grouped clip is very, very annoying.

First, I'm losing time switching back in clip mode every time, but the worse is that it is very dangerous, as many times I do corrections in the timeline node instead of a clip and gets in trouble after minutes of work, as you can imagine...

Hope this issue can be fixed as soon as possible, because going back to V18 is really not something I'd like to do.

Thanks
