Thanks. I have been swapping cables all along as seemed logical. Since the Panels app won't close, and this is independent of whether the SE is connected could it be corrupted software? Can the app be re-installed independent of the whole programme?

Sure. Open the Windows Apps & features control panel, and uninstall DaVinci Resolve Control Panels.

Then run the Resolve installer, and it should have the DaVinci Resolve Control Panels as a selectable install item.

Things are getting stranger. I used 'Scan for hardware changes' in Device Manager and got two lights on the SE - Snap and Jog. In this state the Jog wheel worked on the resolve timeline but none of the SE buttons worked. I could not switch to SHTL, or to SOURCE or do anything except use JOG. Then Resolve hung. After a reboot, no SE lights and no progress.
The same SE still works 100% with my low power Windows 11 laptop.

Check in the Windows Apps & features control panel and see if you have a DaVinci Resolve Keyboards app installed. If you do, uninstall that. Then also uninstall the DaVinci Resolve Control Panels app again.

Then run the Resolve installer, and install the Control Panels app.

If you had the Keyboards app installed, does removing that that have any effect?

The Keyboard App was installed. I followed your recipe. Still no sign of life in the SE.

I am pleased to report that the SE is now working. I uninstalled a large number of programmes to remove potential conflicts. I did not attempt to update the SE when prompted as this always produces a 'failed to update' msg. Finally I swapped to a USB socket that I had tried before and this time - success. I know this approach - trying lots of things at once - is probably of little help to others as I can't say which individual step did the job. Perhaps we'll never know.
Thank you for patient help throughout.

Also running into this problem with my ~1 year old Speed Editor lately. I've only used it with USB. First it stopped working intermittently, but now it's just dead. No lights, and no device detected by the OS nor Panels nor Resolve.

I'm using Windows 10 and Resolve 18. Nothing has changed on the computer outside of reguler security patches from Windows Update. Changing out cables and trying different USB ports has no effect.

I'm not really asking for help, I'm just letting you know about the problem. I will RMA this marvellous piece of technology, of course.

Just adding that disabling the Logitech LampArray Service fixed the same connection issues for me as noted in this thread (device recognized in Windows and DaVinci Control Panels Setup but not 'connected' via either BT or USB)

Edition: Windows 11 Home
Version: 23H2
Installed on : 2023-‎07-‎22
OS build: 22631.4460
Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1047.0
Davinci Resolve 19.1 Build 12

I would also add taking the Logitech LampArray Service from Auto/running to manual in services also fixed the none working speed editor

I couldn't place the change point as I've not used it a lot on the Desktop, same sort of symptoms listed of shows on Bluetooth connections, drops out when connecting USB cable, always shows in the DaVinci Control Panel program
Only hardware change is around Oct/Nov I bought a Logitech G502 wired Mouse, I do think I've had the both speed editor & mouse working together but cant be sure

If I produced a diag log of working & not if I re enable the Logitech LampArray Service to auto after todays session?

On rebooting the machine to its now working state, the mouse has gone to its set colour to match the G15 mechanical keyboard I love

I too had my Speed Editor not working at all. Showed up and looked fine in DaVinci Control Panels, but wouldn't do ANYTHING in Resolve 19.

After finding this thread, I opened Task Manager and stopped the process "Logitech LampArray Service". Boom - my Speed Editor started working again.

I'm a former PC engineer who designed motherboards for Compaq and HP. Blackmagicdesign just putting their hands up and saying "there's nothing we can do" is ********. I have worked through hundreds of similar issues. If the problem is external, you reach out to the other company and you work on it until the issue is resolved.

As far as I'm concerned, DaVinci Resolve has distinguished itself by its lack of playing nice with other normal PC devices. It has some issues with my Sony noise cancelling headphones too, issues that have been discussed on this forum for years without getting fixed.

Until BM is doing that, I recommend having one machine for DR only and another one for all the rest.
That said, I have no issues under MacOS with wireless headphones from JBL and AKG, or with Logitech keyboards and mice.
But I wouldn't touch that fancy lighting effects stuff coming at us all the time with so-called game computers with a very long stick.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

I had the same issue as many other folks. Speed Editor lights would not turn on and it was like the Speed Editor was not there from within Resolve. But I could generally see it in DaVinci Control Panels and from there it looked like the Speed Editor was active and normal. Doing a Factory Reset never did anything, either good or bad; after I clicked Reset it would just go back to the main DaVinci Control Panels Setup screen.

Disabling the Logitech LampArray Service in Windows made the Speed Editor reliably work in Resolve. I have a Logitech G915 keyboard and G703 mouse. I like them both. Not planning to stop using either one. But I did disable the Logitech LampArray Service from starting up, and with that change everything seems to be working in harmony. Not sure what losing the LampArray Service costs me in lost functionality; whatever it is, I don't mind.

I really think Blackmagic should debug this so that each individual user doesn't have to figure this out on their own. Anyone reading this, please contact Blackmagic and ask them to work on this bug! I would say contact Logitech, and it wouldn't hurt, but I've never had a problem using a wide variety of other applications with my Logitech keyboard and mouse. Most like this is a Blackmagic problem.

Hi All,
I've been struggling with Speed Editor connection problems for a long time, I was just about to give up and accept I had a faulty unit, until I came accross this fix, I'm using a fairly high end PC running windows 11 Pro. The fix I used is as follows.
Search for Sevices then look for Logitech LampArray Services, right click select Properties, General tab, Startup Type, select Disabled, then Apply. Doing this fixed all my Speed Editor problems both with Bluetooth and USB connectivity :D , My faith in all things Black Magic has been restored.

I can see previous comments about doing the same thing I just thought I'd add my 10 pence worth, Anyway Hope this helps and good luck.

Kind regards,
Gary.
