Text-Based Editing Cuts Sound abrupt— is there a fix?

PostTue Apr 29, 2025 1:53 pm

Hey everyone,
I am using the the latest version 19 studio.
I’ve been using the text-based editing feature in DaVinci Resolve to clean up spoken dialogue, and I’ve run into something odd. After making cuts via the transcript, the resulting audio sometimes sounds unnaturally choppy — like the edits are landing too close to the start or end of words.

The effect almost mimics an audio gate snapping open and closed. It makes things sound tight and unnatural.

Is this just how text-based editing currently functions, or is there a setting I might be missing (e.g., some sort of buffer or pre-roll/post-roll adjustment for those cuts)?

Any thoughts or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
