Can't drag and drop media directly from PC to timeline

Hi. Can anyone help. I've been using Davinci resolve for about 3 years on an older laptop. I just got a new PC running windows 11 (i7, 32Gb, geforce rtx 3060 12gb) and installed the latest Resolve 18. Everything works very well except I can no longer drag media directly from the files on my PC straight into my timeline. I had no issues with this on my old laptop. I am able to import to the media pool and then drag and drop from there into the timeline, but not directly from my PC files. The timeline is not locked, it has the red square showing etc, etc. I have tried running in administrator, and not. I've check the security settings and they are the same as on my laptop. I have looked in preferences. I have searched for a solution online and in this forum, but nothing. I'm not sure if it is a widows 11 issue or Resolve issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still I cant import via drag and drop to the timeline. Please, can anyone help? I edit a lot and this feature saves me a ton of time looking for media. Should work. What happens when you try to drag and drop?

You've tried to both an existing timeline, and to the Media Pool, and neither work?

You say you are able to import to the Media Pool. Does that mean you can drag and drop to the Media Pool? And it's just the timeline you can't drag and drop to? If that's the case, a screen recording video showing that would likely be helpful.

You use the administrator permission to open the Resolve.

*** Yes, that's right I can't drag a drop to the media pool or to the time line. I can import to the media pool using ctrl+I and then clicking open on the file I want, but not able to drag and drop. Once the files are in the media pool, I can then drag and drop from the media pool to the timeline without issues.
When trying to drag and drop directly from the pc, the file looks like a white box with a small red circle on it with a red line through the circle.

I have also tried in administrator mode, and that didnt work either.

Then send the following:

In the Resolve Help menu, select "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop"

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

You're using free Resolve 18.6.5 on a Windows 11 Pro system.

I've done a test on a similar system, both as an Admin user and as a non-Admin user, and I have no issues dragging and dropping media files into the Media Pool and also directly into a timeline.

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be working for you. Unless there is perhaps some sort of permissions issue, or the files are not supported media files. But if you can use those files by Importing them to the media pool, that would not seem to be the issue.

If you put a media file in your local Windows user Videos folder, you can't drag/drop from there either?

Hi. Nope it won't drag a drop from anywhere.Only once I have them in the media pool. It's not the file types, as they are all standard, and besides,it lets me drag and drop from the media pool to the timeline. I guess it must be some windows permission. But I have checked and they are all ticked to give resolve all the permissions. Unless there's something I don't know, it is a mystery why it won't work.

I've seen others post about this issue and the solution has been not to run Resolve as Admin. I just tested it myself by right-clicking on the Resolve icon on the Desktop and choosing Run As Administrator and I could not drag any media onto the Timeline, but have no issue if I start Resolve by just double-clicking the icon.
