Apply a LUT to only the clean-feed?

PostMon Apr 28, 2025 7:39 pm

I am wanting to use the primary Resolve UI on my main monitor whilst keeping a full-screen "clean feed" on my 2nd monitor.
This is because my main monitor (an ultrawide primarily meant for gaming and not really having any business doing color work) is where I like to have my timeline etc, but I want to keep a full screen color-corrected preview on my ProArt display.

I've calibrated both displays using DisplayCal, although Resolve ignores ICC profiles anyway and so I have also generated the 3D correction LUT for the graphics monitor.

But it seems the ONLY way to apply this to the clean-feed and have the correction applied on the color accurate display is to change the "Output LUT", which then means I have to remember to go and take that off before exporting else it'll get baked into my output file.

Is there no way to just apply a LUT to the clean-feed without needing to go spending £1000 on a decklink or ultrastudio, and without then needing to go and remove it before exporting?

Dual-monitor mode also does not solve the issue as I want to keep the controls on my primary display and again have the full screen view (with correction LUT applied) on the 2nd display.

Is there any way to do this without applying the LUT via external hardware?

You need to select the LUT in the video settings.

None of the other Luts in color management settings apply to the clean feed.

Only the output lut or luts applied to footage in the grading process itself. Both of which then need to be manually undone/removed prior to export to avoid them being included in the export.

Im looking to have my display correction lut apply to the clean feed without needing to manually turn it off every time I go to export.

Basically I was hoping there was an option that works the same as the 'video monitor lut' but for the clean feed.

A $185 Lut box might be your most affordable option

$79 if you are fine with 1080p

I'm really trying to avoid spending more money if at all possible. Is there really no way to just have a 2nd display act as a full-screen monitor and apply a display calibration?

Resolve ignores windows ICC profiles so I can't rely on that, and then there's no way to apply a LUT to the clean feed without the issues described above?

Is there some way to instead just 'undock' the program monitor in resolve like you can in Premiere Pro? Even using the dual screen mode keeps the monitor on the primary display when in the color page so I still can't have my controls on the primary display and monitor on the 2nd.

Is paying for hardware (due to lack of a software feature) really the only option?

Does it also ignore the profiles applied by displaycal? It uses a separate tray app to load them.
