Viewer in Vertical Resolution – is this a bug?

PostSat May 03, 2025 7:11 pm

In DaVinci Resolve 20, the left window (Media Library etc.) dominates the workspace when editing vertical videos, and the layout offers limited no flexibility (see video below). It's frustrating: the main video viewer is locked to the far right and can't be moved.

The new Expand View button changes the layout — yes — but that pushes the viewer even more to the right. For video editors, having the viewer centered is essential — not off to the side. DaVinci is the first video editing software that introduces this new problem.

The inability to resize the window also feels like a bug.

Has anyone found a workaround, yet?

I believe this is intentional design.

(You'll notice the Cut page had had the Viewer to the right since its inception.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
