Own Generators won't appear

PostMon May 05, 2025 12:35 pm

Hi,
I'm trying to access my own generator from within the edit page. The manual states:

"To have the Generator template appear in the Effects Library > Fusion Generators category of DaVinci
Resolve, save the macro in the following locations:
...
On Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\
Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Generators
...
After you’ve saved your macro, you’ll need to quit and reopen DaVinci Resolve. When you open the
Effects Library on the Edit page, the new Generator template is listed in the Generators category, in
the Fusion Generators list."

I did exactly that, but the templates won't appear. I can access them from within the FusionPage when saved to:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\Fusion\Templates\Fusion\
but no luck with the edit page.

Can anyone point out what I'm missing?

Works for me on Windows in v20.

On my system, there was only a Templates folder. I had to create the Edit and Generators folders under that. Is that what you did?

And the file that was saved has a .setting extension?

Hej,
Thanks for your answer. I'm running Studio 19.1.4 Build11 under Win11.
The directory is as Resolve wants it to be:
C:\Users\Alexander.Boehm\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Generators
There is also a file "Templates.drfx"(about 15Mb) in the "Templates" folder.
Yes, the files have the .settings extension.

Curiously, all the titles in the "Titles" folder (also palced in the "Edit" folder) are accessible from within the edit page.

That's very odd. The Templates.drfx is the compressed file that holds all the default Resolve effects. And it normally lives in this folder:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates

Odd that it would be in your Users AppData folder.

If you put your .setting file in this folder, does it work:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Generators

I can't put the file there because of access restriction. I don't have administrator permission to this folder in the office.
But I can check this later at home on my own System.
