Hello, developers of the wonderful DaVinci Resolve 20.0b3. I have some suggestions regarding exporting PNG images.
Many times we need to export a frame from the timeline as a PNG. I go to the menu "File / Export / Current Frame as Still..." This is extremely easy!
But, I have noticed that in this procedure, DaVinci Resolve exports the PNG file without any compression. This results in gigantic files. Image viewing software, such as XnView MP or GIMP 3, can compress PNG up to level 9. At this level, the PNG files are quite small compared to what DaVinci Resolve exports. I would also really like DaVinci Resolve to export PNG with compression in this procedure that I mentioned above.
SUGGESTION TO IMPLEMENT A NEW FEATURE
The procedure I mentioned above solves the problem when we need to export one or another frame from the timeline as PNG. But it is not practical when we need to export dozens or even hundreds of frames as photos.
My suggestion is: Create a marker on the timeline with a specific color on all the frames that I want to export as photos. On the Deliver page, add the option to export all markers of a certain color (e.g. Violet) as a still image (png, jpg or even WEBP. Yes! WEBP!)
I've been doing this for years in Vegas Pro, where I batch render 1-frame region markers as still images. All in one process. This is very helpful for editing weddings, birthdays, dance shows, etc. My clients love it when I deliver video footage as stills.
I would really, really like this dream of mine to come true. I hope your great team of developers read this.
