Davinci Resolve 18 and 19 Does Not Open Mac OS 15.0

PostMon Oct 14, 2024 5:49 pm

Davinci Resolve Studio does not open after the new Mac OS update. I installed 18 and 19.2, but it does not open at all and closes without giving an error. I completely deleted the files in the library and installed it, but I cannot start the program at all.

Try this:
- Free up any reasonably fast external storage.
- Install a fresh Sonoma to it.
- Boot from there.
- Install DR Studio.
- Try again.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

That's not the log file we really want. But it's probably enough to what the issue likely is.

First, don't use Resolve 18.0. If you want to use a Resolve 18 version, use the current 18.6.6 release.

It looks like you have the Maxon Universe plugins installed. Those are known to cause Resolve startup crashes. To verify that's the issue, open Finder and navigate to the /Library/OFX folder and rename the Plugins folder to Plugins.tmp

That will prevent Resolve from loading 3rd party OFX plugins. If that fixes the issue, then you can leave the folder name changed. If you have other 3rd party OFX plugins aside from the Universe plugins that you need to use, you'll need to change the folder name back to Plugins and uninstall the Universe plugins.

Those are a lot more informative. Python is crashing Resolve. Uninstall or update whatever Python version is installed on the system.

The first potential issue is that macOS 12.0 is not supported in Resolve 19. If possible, you need to update to at least macOS 13.x Ventura.

If you still have Resolve startup issues after updating macOS, please send another Resolve log and a Mac system info .spx file.

It looks like the issue started when you upgraded from 18.0.4 to 19.1.3.

Try this: In Finder, navigate to the /Library/OFX folder. Then rename the Plugins folder to Plugins.tmp

Now will Resolve start?

Hi Dwaine,
Actually the issue started yesterday. As a last resort I decided to uninstall and then reinstall a clean version of DaVinci. In the meantime let me try out what you propose and I'll come back to you.
