Nothing to Inspect

PostSat May 10, 2025 10:54 am

ok, i have been posting about meta tagging but so far no help or anyone else experiencing similar things.

Here is a video of one of the problems. The disappearing Metatagging window.

Note: only one clip is being selected at a time, and different file formats, from iPhone to Canon Cinema MXF and CRM. Also tested as proxy or camera originals.
I was able to metatag six months ago. But not now.

I have just had the same issues on Davinci 20 Beta too. I started metatagging on that over last week, and now it has stopped working. Identical issues.

Update: So I have exported the project, created a new library, and still this is happening.

This is the same problem as before and it is still a problem with SELECTION not with metatagging. Resolve is trying to select different things as your mouse moves over them.

I suspect this is related to hover scrubbing (called live preview media in the … menu). Turn that off and I bet your problems will go away.

I do think this is a bug - just not a bug in metadata tagging.

Hey,

I tried turning off the live preview and it still does it!

What is driving me mad, is that I set up a fresh project in davinci 20, absolutely clean, imported the original camera rushes, and tried metatagging with no timelines or anything. It worked fine for two days then it went buggy again!

I definitely see the selection going awry in all the videos you’ve posted so far. Do you see what I mean by that? If so can you get the bad metadata problem WITHOUT the selection going wrong? And if so post a new video showing it happening - preferably with you narrating what you’re doing and seeing.

PS I’ve just turned off Live Media Preview and it DOES fix the selection bug for me. Are you SURE you managed to turn it off? To do so you’ve got to go into the Source Viewer’s … menu. Can be a bit hard to find.

I have just deleted all preferences, caches and application support files and doing a fresh 19.1.4 reinstall.
I found live preview and turned it of.

Let me see how the old project that was buggy fares now that I have cleaned up the computer.

So it SEEMS at the moment, that doing an entire system flush of BM folders, in the library and all the other squirrelled away places, has solved the issue.

I have started meta tagging again, and it SEEMS to be working fine. I created a new local library, erased all mention of previous libraries or drives, and deleted all caches and preference files.

I wil report back in a couple of days to let y'll know how it went. :)
