Upgrade old project to Flex Buss?

PostSat May 10, 2025 7:56 am

Hi everyone - my first post here. Sorry if this is an easy answer, or this question is in the wrong place, but I have tried to look all over to solve my issue and can't find anything that works for me.

I am mixing a film that started life in some earlier version of resolve (maybe 16 or 17). I really really want to make use of the flexible routing system but this project seems stuck in the old fixed buss system. There are numerous things I have found online that state I can just uncheck a box and the project will convert etc - but that box is greyed out for me so no go there.

Does anyone have a workflow for getting this timeline updated to the new system before I get properly stuck into it?

Or is my only option to export an AAF or OMF and import into a fresh timeline? Or just boot it to my normal world in Nuendo in that case?! I was really hoping to stay in Resolve though and try something different for this one!

Thanks in advance!

Project Settings > Fairlight > “Use fixed bus mapping”

What happens when you click the checkbox?
Fairlight Studio Console 3 Bay • Merging Hapi • Anubis • Merging Premium VAD (3.5.0) ↔︎ Lawo VSC (1.0.0)
Mac Pro 7,1 Rack • Resolve Studio 20.0 • macOS 15.5 (24F74) ➩ 11" iPad Pro (M4) 1TB • iPadOS 18.5 (22F76)
