I started using Resolve at v17 and this kind of stuff has been a problem since I've been using it. I believe this is an issue with the caching system not updating, but I'm not aware of Blackmagic ever saying anything about this. I can see the caching problems with video clips because video effects don't update and when moving Adjustment Clips with effects it holds onto the source video from the old location and doesn't update the video, so that's what leads me to believe it's the same problem for audio as well. The caching system is very buggy.
Something you can try is to cut the audio clip and paste it right back into the same place. This is the only workaround I've found that consistently works to force the cache to update for video (even deleting cache on selected clips doesn't always work), so you can try it on audio clips as well.
