BM Studio Version 20.03

PostTue May 06, 2025 8:24 pm

Dear Blackmagic Design Support Team,

I am reaching out for assistance regarding an issue with DaVinci Resolve 20.03 and CUDA 12.8. I am using a purchased version of Resolve, but I am encountering a problem where the software will not open unless I disable its automatic use of CUDA.

I have ensured that my NVIDIA drivers are up to date and that CUDA 12.8 is properly installed. However, Resolve does not seem to function correctly with this setup. I would like to know if there are any workarounds or updates planned to address this compatibility issue.

Could you please provide guidance on resolving this? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for continuing to develop this excellent program, from an inexperienced user.

Best regards, William.

What happens if you move or delete the tensor cache at:

C:\Users\YOUR-USERNAME-HERE\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\DVIP\Cache

Do you get any further?

OK.

You should not install any separate CUDA driver when using Windows. That can really mess things up. All the necessary CUDA code is in the normal Display Driver.

So you should Uninstall any CUDA drivers.

Hello, your continued support is most welcome.
I am now really out of my depth, but willing to help, I have installed DVR 20.3 Beta, thinking I might be to
help in supplying any problems to the expert developers, also to increase my knowledge.
To-day I have downloaded the latest graphics driver using Nvidia, I have used the custom install to carry out a clean install.
Windows is up to date and DVR, but on starting DVR I still get the WARNING not using CUDA etc.
Are there any other suggestions please.
I am uncertain of how to uninstall CUDA drivers you were suggesting.
Thanks again William.

Likely the Clean Install of the driver did the trick.

Show us your Preferences>System>Memory and GPU...

Hello, you say clean install done the trick? I'm sorry I don't follow you.
Using DVR 19 CUDA was accepted now after all the updates and reinstall I still get the message the driver is not using CUDA.
Am I missing something here please?
Again, thank you for your support.
William.

See if this helps. Go to Preferences/System/Memory and GPU. De-select any Auto setting, select CUDA, and select your GPU.
This is what mine looks like.

Thank you for your help. At the first start today I see Attached.
After taking out the AUTO ticks there is no option for CUDA, ever since testing DVR 20.
I am stumped.

Hello everyone who have had interest in this problem.
Finally resolved. I downloaded Display Driver Uninstaller and ran it in safe mode, then downloaded the latest Nvidia driver for RTX4070 and ran it in custom mode with the box ticked clean install.
When I opened DVR, (I had previously unticked the two AUTO boxes) and going to Preferences (top left menu) and there it was CUDA had been selected.
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR HELP.
WILLIAM.
