I have been having spotty performance issues in DR 16 betas (all up to 6).
Appears to be issue where some (not all) projects cause the Windows 10 antimalware process to be invoked and it grabs 20-25% CPU resource and never let's go.
If I close the timeline or change to another project that is not affected, then the antimalware process drops to minimal usage ( 0 to 0.1 %)
Ideas to solve this?
Windows 11 laptop. Intel i7-10750H, 32GB RAM, Nvidia 4070 ti Super eGPU, SSD disks. Resolve Studio (latest)
I had already tried excluding file types (didn't work), but your link also suggested folders, so I excluded the entire media drive, and that does work. Antimalware service exec. now running 0% and Resolve is MUCH faster.

The same thing happened to me. It was enough for me to add a Windows Defender exception for Unity and other processes. Also, thank you! That was beneficial.

It sounds like Windows Defender's Antimalware Service Executable is actively scanning your DaVinci Resolve 16 project files, especially when certain timelines are loaded. This could be due to the size or complexity of those projects triggering real-time protection.
One way to reduce CPU usage is to add your project folders and DaVinci Resolve’s installation path to Windows Security's exclusion list. This prevents constant scanning of those files. Alternatively, you can temporarily disable real-time protection while editing, though it's not ideal for security. These steps should help balance performance without fully disabling your antivirus protection.
