Premiere Multicam clips - Can they be imported into Resolve?

PostSat Jun 10, 2023 6:50 pm

This is probably a big NO, but I felt like I heard recently (from a few diff people) that premiere multicam clips can now be imported into Resolve using an EDL. I've tried it and had no such luck, so wanted to reach out.

Anyone know if this is a possibility? Or is there some clever workaround I'm missing? (using latest public (non-beta) versions of premiere and resolve as of todays date).

Thanks.

Premiere's Multicam "clips" are actually just sequences treated internally as a single clip via metadata. It's not something you can export.

After you've done the selection of cams on the timeline in Premiere, you can flatten and should be able to do an EDL or XML out. At least, I would expect. But that would be a "cut" version, not one you could work on the Resolve edit page that I know of.

Would love other comments, of course, from wiser heads!

Not sure about wiser heads, but is it possible to export the Premiere Multicam clip as a timeline instead and then use the feature of Resolve to transform the timeline into a Resolve Multicam clip?

I was dealing with the same question.
Care has to be taken in Resolve when opening the XML from Premiere, in order to select only the desired audio channels before converting the timeline to Multicam clip.
But it works.
