(bug) Recorded audio clips disappear from timeline

PostTue May 06, 2025 3:53 pm

Part of my workflow in Resolve involves recording audio clips straight to the timeline.

A couple weeks ago, Windows scrambled my drive letters. I had to go into Resolve and fix the drive paths manually, but now when I record an audio clip using Fairlight, the clip disappears from the timeline as soon as I press stop.

Under Project Settings, Capture and Playback, Save Clips To, I've set it as "I:\". The only device under DaVinci Resolve Preferences, Media Storage is also "I:\". The clips still exist under "I:\[project name]\[timeline name]\" after I record them, but I have to find them manually and insert them into Resolve myself.

Please indicate Resolve version, operating system, and computer spec (with storage volume details). Include this information in your signature to assist troubleshooting.

I'm on Resolve 19.1.3 Build 7.

Not sure how this is pertinent given the nature of the bug, but I updated my signature with my PC specs.

I use I:/ as my scratch drive and it's where the audio gets recorded to (as I said, the audio clips exist on the drive where they're supposed to be, but they disappear from the timeline). It's a Kingston A2000 500gb internal NVMe drive with 100gb of space left. My C:/ drive is a Samsung 990 Pro 4TB with 500gb of space left. Both all green according to Hard Disk Sentinel.

Same behaviour with both volumes?

The same thing happened to me yesterday.
No system changes or updates. Plays back everything ok.
I shut down and restarted PC twice, after second restart everything returned to normal.
