I see your point, but there's a lot not covered in the release notes and the ReadMe files, especially for features that have been dropped or depreciated. Same thing for features that have been moved or slightly changed.
I've often said, though, if it were up to me, I would discontinue the free version entirely because it causes a lot of support and compatibility problems. I might grudgingly allow a $9.95 "basic" student version of Resolve that had a very limited feature set, was HD-only, and offered an upgrade path to Resolve Studio. But free? No.
I'm sympathetic to people who need to try out the program to make sure it does what they want, and they need to use it for a week or two to at least go through the basic tutorials. That, I understand.
