USB dongle

I bought a USB dongle but it came in a metal tin with foam insert is this correct

Did you buy it direct from Blackmagic or an authorized reseller?

No from eBay and it does work. I'm just worried that it will stop working as I wanted it to use for my YouTube channel. All the things I read online where they where provided in card packaging and also with a serial number I got nothing just small tin with a Davinchi picture on the front and some styrofoam with a cut out. I may just return it and purchase just a licence
