Critical Exception and Critical Error Saving Project

PostThu May 15, 2025 4:21 pm

Hi guys,
I found some posts abou this Critical Exception problem, but mine seems different.
I what way? I made a screenshot where you can see what the problem is.
Or better two problems in this case. A Critical Exception ánd a Critical Error Saving Project.
Made a new project to see if that hekps, but no, does not help. Same problem again.
Is it maybe a bug in version 20?
At this moment I can not work, as it happens every time, no matter what I try.

Who is clever enough to help this old man out?

All I did was: I made a new bin in Power Bins and tried to give that bin a new name.

and tried to give that bin a new name

That sounds simple enough. Were there any weird characters in the name?

I have no idea if you're on Mac or Windows. If you're running into Resolve crashes on Windows, go to the Resolve Help menu and select "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop." Also, create a MSinfo32 info file by selecting Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information, then choosing Save.

If you're running into crashes on a Mac, go to the Help Menu and select "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop." Also, provide a Mac System info file by going into Mac System Prefs -> About, and clicking "System Report." Save this file (as an SPX file).

Now, place both files on a download site like Dropbox, post the link here in a forum message and see BMD Support has to say.

Just found out it happens every time when I drag something in a power bin folder.
Even if it is just one file.

Great! Does it happen even in a brand new project? Would be fantastic to have a reproducible test case for this.

We still don't know if you're on Mac or Windows or what your hardware is. But yes, the system info would be an NFO file (also readable in a text editor).

I just installed DaVinci_Resolve_Studio_20.0b4, the latest update,
but still the same problem with the powerbin.
I hope somebody from Blackmagic is reading this to, and make sure with the next update this problem is fixed. It drives me crazy not beeing able to use the powerbin.

In the log you provided, all the Critical errors were related to project Schotland.

Please provide an updated log using 20b4 showing the issue with new projects.

Also provide a project export .drp of a project that exhibits this behavior, with details on which Power Bin folder you are dragging stuff into to cause the crash.

That link is not working for me. When I go there, it asks me to sign into my Onedrive account. And I did, and no files.
