Persistent crashing

PostTue May 20, 2025 7:05 am

Hi,
I'm having problems with DaVinci Resolve Studio crashing extremely often. It happens most often when I'm scrubbing, cutting or just playing video in the edit page. It got even worse in my last project. I ended up finding out I was using video and audio files DR doesn't like. So I converted them using ffmpeg. Then I made an entirely new project and imported the newly converted files. I added a .mov file, added some effects like EQ, reverb and speed change. Then I cut it up a bit and started playing it. Then DR froze and crashed. I generated a crash log but to be honest I don't know where I can find it. When I do things that make DR crash or freeze, Task Manager doesn't show any abnormal usage. I know it's not that accurate though. Also my PC can handle heavy Fusion effects and won't crash unless I do something extreme. I've been trying to solve my problems for a long time and I can't find a solution. And I don't know how I would diagnose my problem. Feel free to ask for any additional info!

My PC specs are:
RTX 3080 10GB
Intel 13600K 32GB
DDR4 RAM
Good NVMe PCIe 4 SSDs
NZXT N7 Z690
Good cooling and PSU

My SSDs have free space
My hardware is not overheating to my knowledge
My PC works fine when I stress test it

That Log should land on your Desktop.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Had desktop icons hidden so didn't see it. Thanks. Doesn't seem like the crash log describes a lot though. I did update davinci resolve yesterday and I havent seen the same problem since. Maybe the new version fixed it? I don't know.
