Magic Mask data corrupts when restarting Resolve

PostTue May 27, 2025 1:51 pm

Almost all of the time when reopening a project, the magic mask data is corrupted/invalidated while still showing that it's cached. The only way to fix it is to delete and retrack all clips which takes really long if it's used a lot. Sometimes the regenerate all clips feature doesn't actually redo all nodes on all clips in the timeline.

I already had this issue in 20beta2 and it's still present in current 20beta4.

Here is what the data looks like when in highlight mode(minus the black censor squares). (scroll down in the image to see the track being blue)

I've found what causes it, it's whenever you copy paste the project from the database panel before you open anything in Resolve, to make a new version. Opening that project breaks all magic mask data. Opening the project where your copy came from will still have the data in tact.

Current workaround: Open the latest project and do a Save As to create your new version instead.

I don't know if this issue is fixed in the release of 20 yet, need to install it. If not please address this soon BMD.
