[Help] Conform Stock Footage Nightmare

PostThu May 29, 2025 9:21 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a project that includes a large amount of Adobe Stock footage. I initially edited using watermarked preview clips, and now I’m trying to replace them with the licensed versions.

Here's the issue:

The preview files all end with "Video_HD_Preview.mov" and have starting timecode at 00:00:00:00.

The licensed versions are named like "AdobeStock_#######.mov" (no "Video_HD_Preview" in the name) and — more importantly — they all have different starting timecodes.

I tried using the Reconform from Bins command, and matched reel names using a custom file path pattern, which worked great for identifying the correct clips.

But the problem is: when I reconform, everything goes out of sync, because Resolve uses the source timecode — and these differ between the preview and licensed versions.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

How can I force Resolve to reconform using source frame count or match based on file name / position, rather than timecode?

Any tips or workflows would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

ugly option = clip atb / edit start TC / change start to 00:00:00:00 (or matching proxy)

Did you try "Replace Clip?" You'd probably have to do this 1 by 1. Alternatively, if you're on PC maybe you could use Power Toys to rename your new clips to your old clips' names then put them in the same source folder. Not sure if that would mess with your timecode issue as I've never used that workflow. Just brainstorming here.
