I'm looking for some guidance on correct settings for whether or not I should be enabling inverse/forward OOTF when working with Panasonic V-Log footage in Resolve as I've struggled to find an exact answer online.
A few places have said that Resolve will handle this for you and to just trust its settings, but the issue is whether or not the box is checked seems to depend on whether I use the "Use timeline settings" (which my timeline settings are Davinci wide gamut/intermediate) or manually select davinci wide gamut/intermediate from the dropdowns.
For example on my input node, if I 'use timeline', it does enable Forward OOTF:
But then if I manually choose Davinci wide gamut/intermediate it disables it:
Similarly on the output node manually choosing DaVinci Wide Gamut/Intermediate to Rec.709 it does enable forward OOTF, but then using timeline settings it disables it.
My timeline settings ARE set to Davinci wide gamut/intermediate though:
If I on my output instead choose to convert from DWG/Intermediate back to V-Log/V-Gamut so that I can have a Phantom LUT as the final step after it, it disables the OOTF boxes which I assume is correct since they're both scene referred, but I'm quite confused as to the correct settings for V-Log to DWG and DWG to REC709 given as Resolve seems to behave differently depending on if you're pointing it to timeline settings or explicitly choosing DWG.
Can anyone advise on the correct setup here?
