Hi,
my first time posting here. I hope I'm in the right section for these questions.
I've done video-editing before (with Premiere) and years ago switched over to Davinci Resolve. After being satisfied with how the free version worked out (although it was a bit of getting used to), I bought a license, as I was intending to become a freelance graphics designer and video editor. Unfortunatly, that didn't work out and haven't been doing a lot of graphic design or video-editing since then.
Getting back into it now, since I'm currently into stereoscopic 3D movies again and I want to convert (older) movies that don't have a 3D version, as they are a joy to watch in Bigscreen VR and I've seen some amazing conversions.
I know something like Owl3D does that, but I don't want to pay a subscription for something like that. And I already got a somewhat decent result with Davinci Resolve and Depth Mask and stereoscopic camera in Fusion.
Although it is servicable with only the Depth Mask and the Camera3D, I still want to make it better. So I'm assuming I need to cut out the main subjects into their own layer, to be able to play with more depth between background and subjects. And also use different Depth Mask settings for each layer. I think the Magic Mask will be usefull here? Anything else usefull here? Are there any tutorials out there on how to approach such a workflow with Davinci Resolve?
Also, and this is why I first signed onto this forum. I have my VR-headset (Oculus Rift CV1) working in Davinci Resolve. And if I activate the 3rd point in of the MediaOut on the Fusion tab, I get the output in my VR-headset. Problem is that is on a gigant sphere/dome. While, as I'm just using it for 2D to 3D stereoscopic conversion of regular formatted videos, I need it to be a 'screen' just in front of me.
Having to constantly render a file to preview the video is time consuming. So I want to be able to check results on the fly in my VR headset. How do I do that?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
