Hi all,
I have a number of projects where I need to deliver to a 4K 10bit HDR output using Resolve. The source material being provided is all iPhone 15 Pro (and newer) sourced and a mix of video (which imports fine) and still images/photos.
The photos are Apple's HEIF format taken with iOS 18's Adaptive HDR whatever that means (I think its a HDR image with a gain map for SDC-backwards support). There is a mix of HEIF MAX 48mp and standard 24mp HEIF files.
Resolve is set to 10bit HDR, project and timeline are 4K 10bit, HDR, PQ. Display is a M4 Macbook Pro XDR (1600nits/10bit). Resolves option to use MacOS colour calibration is ticked, as is 10bit viewers.
Resolve 20 Studio imports the HEIFs fine but I cant, for the life of me, get them to look exactly as they do in MacOS's Preview/Photos app. I need to get them to have 'that look' if possible.
I've tried various input colour spaces and gammas, I can't get the images to look the same as they do in the native apps. I've also tried CST's as well with no luck. They seem to either look over saturated (which cant be cured by reducing the saturation) or the colour palette is slightly off.
Has anyone had luck getting these to import and look as they do in the native Preview/Photos app? If so, how did you achieve it?
