"neural engine optimization on NVIDIA" isn't working.

PostThu May 29, 2025 6:15 pm

I just updated to version 20, and I notice that the "neural engine optimization on NVIDIA" isn't working.
I've already tried all the tips I found on the forums.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Everything worked without problems up to version 19.4.
I notice now that the specifications say CUDA 12.8. Does that mean the entire 4xxx and 3xxx generations are no longer optimized?
My graphics card is a 12GB RTX 3060.

How is it not working?

Are you using the most current NVIDIA driver for your RTX 3060?

Obviously, I'm using everything up to date.
I understand that it doesn't work because, upon first launch, it doesn't run the neural engine optimization, the process that generates the tensorRT.cache file.
Likewise, whether I select the Use neural engine optimization on NVIDIA option or not makes any difference.
The Tensor RT.cache isn't generated, and I don't see any performance differences, which was the case in version 19.

Things I tried:
*Uninstall DAVINCI and delete all associated folders and reinstall.
*Uninstall and reinstall the NVIDIA driver (I had the latest version) Studio 576.52.
*Revert to DaVinci version 19.1.4 (this works perfectly and generates the RTtensor).

I also noticed no neural optimisation at the beginning right after updating to version 20. My colleague also told me he had no neural optimisation. So why? Is that an issue or it uses some kind of informations that were created in version 19 previously? I also don't see performance increase in favour of version 20 compared to 19.

I don't really expect the performance to be any better, the magic mask dropped from 20 Fps to 5 fps, but considering that it's much better than version 1, I expected some loss, but not that much and I attribute it to this, that there is no optimization.

You are using the studio version of the NVIDR driver right? I got the same message (4070 Ti Super on an AMD 9950x) and upgraded to the new version of the studio driver and that fixed it.

Starting with 20.0b4, DaVinci Resolve Studio includes pre-optimised neural engines for Nvidia graphics cards.

No explicit optimisation is needed in these cases. It is not a bug.

Nice, that's good to know. What I do find with that is that the forum search engine is VERY bad.
Thank you very much.

I am using the full version 20 release. Does this mean it's no longer putting anythingin the AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\Davinci Resolve\Support\DVIP\Cache?
