5120 x 2160 monitors … LG?

PostMon Jun 09, 2025 3:10 pm

Has anyone used this LG monitor for working with Resolve 20?

https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-45gx950a-b-gaming-monitor?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21942837031&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjJrCBhCXARIsAI5x66UMxTqck1uXdZbR2TVm82C72sBFHBRI166FoxQL3OAuPfe3taqfFsYaAqfmEALw_wcB

I’ve read good a bad review but some of the bad reviews seem to be from buyers that aren’t “tuned” in to technology and running the monitor from a PS5 console.

The display is a mat finish but probably best for curved to avoid reflections.

I’m not looking for high refresh rates (in fact 60Hz is fine for me), but the 5120 x 2160 resolution is very appealing … screen real estate (100% scaling) for Resolve and the curve should help keep sight distance to monitor within my glasses focal range (old as dirt). The monitor physical width (39”) is perfect for my desktop.

Don’t really want to spend more than about $2000. But open to OLED only suggestions. Currently using LG C2 which is excellent, but corner to corner stretch and it’s height can be hard on my eyes/neck.

Ordered this monitor for video/audio edit/mixing etc.

I got it from local BestBuy due to arrive June 20 and got the extended 4 year replacement warranty. I specifically went the local retail route because reviews have been either very good or very bad.

Will post back my experience once it arrives.

1300 nits with HDR
5120 x 2160
125 ppi
DCI-P3 98.5% (CIE1976)

Have zero interest in the ridiculous refresh rates that some seem to feel is necessary … 330Hz refresh??! Give me a break … anyone claiming they can tell the difference beyond 75Hz is either not human or pretending to be super human. Anyway, that aside 60-120Hz is fine and this monitor will operate up to 165Hz at native resolution.

I looked at other 5120 x 2160 displays (Mac/Dell etc.) and they were ALL way too small a screen (physical) and would require desktop scaling to avoid tiny text which defeats the purpose of having more screen real estate.

Matt finish so should be relatively accurate with no reflections.

Rob.
