Error Code 700

PostThu Jun 12, 2025 12:36 am

Hi!

No matter which clip I use, I get this error message before I can even start editing. Often, I just see a black screen on the timeline. I uninstalled the drivers using DDU and tried reinstalling the drivers and DaVinci Resolve versions, but nothing has helped so far. I've tried almost everything I found on Google to solve this problem, but nothing has worked.

I've attached a DaVinci diagnostic log file.

Any help is appreciated.

My specs are

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400F @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
RTX 2070S
32 GB DDR4 RAM

What source clip codec are you using? What specific version of Resolve are you using?

I used to get this error a lot when I used a card with only 8 GB of VRAM.

Hasn't happened since I upgraded to 12 GB of VRAM.

You may want a new GPU.

The Resolve logs show you have an adequate NVIDIA driver installed.

What is your timeline resolution and clip resolution?

A .NFO file would be helpful. Open Windows System Information and select File - Save to generate the .NFO file.

You'll need to put that on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file.

The timeline and clip resolution are set to 1920x1080 HD (4K original).

Shouldn't 8 GB of VRAM be enough for a 1920x1080 HD timeline?
I'm thinking about buying the RTX 3060 with 12 GB of VRAM, but I want to make sure it's a VRAM problem before buying a new GPU.

I have adopted the view that 12 GB of VRAM is the bare minimum for using Resolve.

I don't see anything that jumps out in the NFO. All looks normal.

Different issues seem to be happening in different logs.

A couple of your logs show you have OpenCL GPU processing mode selected in Resolve Preferences - System - Memory and GPU - GPU Configuration - GPU processing mode.

You absolutely positively CANNOT use OpenCL GPU processing mode with NVIDIA GPUs. If you install Resolve 20, and you don't have an adequate NVIDIA driver installed, the Resolve Auto GPU processing mode may revert to OpenCL mode, so it sorta kinda works. But you can't use it like that. I'm seeing a lot of this from Resolve 20 Windows users who have a proper NVIDIA driver installed. I assume they updated the driver, but didn't change the GPU Processing mode to Auto after they updated the driver.

So that explains a few of your issues. But several of the logs with 700 errors have the proper driver installed. But the 700 errors seem to be caused by different things. So it's a bit confusing.

I see you had the current 576.52 NVIDIA driver installed mostly, but then reverted to the 572.83 driver. Either should work. But I'd suggest installing the 576.52 driver again, and when you run the driver installer, select the Custom install option, and then select the Clean install option and see what that does.

If you still get 700 errors after that, send a project export .drp of a project causing the errors.

I installed the 576.52 driver and changed the GPU processing mode to Auto. After reopening DaVinci, I imported the video, but it just showed a black screen. Then, I manually changed the GPU processing mode to CUDA, and it worked for about three minutes before the error 700 showed up again.

I don't see anything in you project that should cause an issue.

It's starting to look like you might have a GPU or power supply issue.

I'd recommend you download and run the Furmark GPU stress test app, and see if that works, or shows a GPU error:

https://geeks3d.com/furmark/

You might also try reseating the GPU and the power connectors to the GPU.
