DaVinci erased my projects. How to restore them?

PostThu Jun 12, 2025 5:19 pm

I'm a Mac user using the free version DaVinci Resolve 17. Lately DaVinci has been running slow for me and would crash pretty often. Yesterday it did the same thing and when I opened the software back up, all my projects were gone from my database. If I look in my folders and go into DaVinci Resolve>Resolve Projects>Users>guest>Projects then I am able to see that the folders for each of my projects are still there. So I know that these projects are still on my computer, but how do I get them to show up in my DaVinci database again?

You sure you're in the correct Library?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Why are you using Resolve 17?

Are you using the BMD web site version, or the Apple App Store version?

If you open the Resolve Project Manager page, and right click your Project Library and select Reveal In Finder and are finding your project folders in that path, they should be showing up.

If you are looking in a different path than what Reveal in Finder on your project library is showing, that's the issue. You could copy those project folders to the same Projects folder that Reveal In Finder of your Project Library exposes and they should show up. The only reason they might not show up is if the projects were created in a newer Resolve version than you currently have installed. Resolve 17, as an example, would not see v18 or higher projects sitting in the Projects folder.
