Issue with extended synced audio

Hello,
Is it true that when synchronizing an external audio file by timecode, if the audio recording was started AFTER the camera, Resolve extends the audio with silence until the start of the video?

If so, is there a way to avoid this and keep the audio clip starting after the video clip?

I've never tried it, but I wouldn't be surprised, because the reverse is true.

If the audio file is longer, you'll get only the portion that aligns with the video.
