My DaVinci Resolve is Not Responding

PostTue Nov 19, 2024 6:49 pm

Hi!
So I have an issue with my DaVinci Resolve editing program where whenever I try to load it, it ends up not responding. I have 32 gbs or RAM and about 60 gbs of space in my local disk drive. I'm unsure of what could be making my problems arise as it was working fine for me previously, I have tried a few methods of how to deal with this (one of which was from this forum). I have also tried deleting and redownloading the program a couple times as well. I have also tried closing every program on my computer and deleting numerous apps so I am able to load the program. I would really appreciate the help, thank you!

Next thing to try is telling exactly which hardware you have, GPU in particular, and posting a crash log.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows Desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

As a start, open Windows Device Manager, select Display Adapters, right click the Parsec adapter and select Disable device.

Now does Resolve start?

@Dwaine This has been very helpful to me. After all the updates to Resolve and to my 4070Ti card, I never considered having disable/enable the card in Windows Device Manager. Seems to have resolved my 3 week long issue of Resolve 19 either loading very slowly or failing to load at all. Cheers my friend!

Can you check mine as well? I tried the following steps but it didn't work after disabling my integrated GPU. Instead it said OpenGL something was needed.

It appears that your Python 3.12 install is causing the issue. If you are not using Python, uninstall it.

If you are using Python, update it to a current version.

It appears your Python 3.1.2 install is causing Resolve to crash.

If you are not using Python, uninstall it and that should solve the issue.

If you are using Python, update it to the current version and that should solve the issue.

Is this something that can help me as well? I reached out and wanted to figure out why it takes 2-3 minutes for a project to open when I first open Davinci. You recommended that I create a separate library for each of my clients instead of having one library for all of them. Unfortunately, it still takes what seems like forever, to open a project. If it stays this way, I'm going back to a single library, :D that way I don't have to have separate Power Bins for each library. Your thoughts?

If you have any Network project libraries configured, and one or more of those network locations is not available, that can cause long loading.

If you have lots of stuff in the Deliver page Render Queue, that can make selecting the Deliver page take time. And if you exited Resolve with the Deliver page selected, it will open on the Deliver page, and take the same amount of time to open.

If you have Local project libraries on removeable drives, that might create long loading issues.
