Toggle Playhead auto scrolling?

PostTue Sep 12, 2017 1:41 pm

using version 14.0.0.078
Is there a way to disable the automatic page scrolling when playing? Many times I do edits trims etc, without stopping first, Then by the time I want to release the mouse button of a drag or something, the page scrolls because the playhead advanced outside the current view and it creates a mess in the edit not trimming where I wanted.

I've noticed that if I activate Timeline > Selection Follows Playhead, then the scroll is continuous, not page by page. Why should this change the type of scrolling?

I wish an option like Timeline > Scroll Follows Playhead, or something like that. And a keyboard shortcut to quickly toggle it.

Or maybe automatically disable the scroll only if a edit is started while playing.
Any ideas?

If you want to restrict the play area to one edit, turn on looping.

I'd love to have this option as well. I'm accustomed to turning off timeline scroll in Premiere Pro. Having no way to disable that in Resolve is...frustrating.

thanks for the idea, but I think it is not a solution to the problem. I don't want to be constantly looping/unlooping, defining ranges... I just want to edit and the auto scroll to be disabled if I start editing or touching something.

+1

when making precision trims you want to be very zoomed in or "focused" on the target are, and then loop/play around to be able to see/hear what's around the edit you are focused on without the timeline paging back and forth.

Pretty please?

Dang has anyone found an answer to this? I know with Resolve 16, on the cut page it does this, but it would be awesome to be able to do it in the edit page!

I've been waiting for this like for ever.

If it's possible in Cut, it surely must be possible in Edit...please.

we don't have this yet in V17?
Seriously?

I would add an option to Toggle the automatic scrolling.. with a keyboard shortcut too please.
If your are moving a clip or a transition or doing something in the timeline, automatic scrolling should never happen, independently of the option.
And another option to manually scroll once to playhead position, with a keyboard shortcut too please.

Sorry to re-live an old thread, but can I confirm this still isn't a thing in Resolve?
I've come from Sony Vegas and I found that the playhead/timeline didn't move while I was editing a clip, which made it great to edit earlier parts of a video all while the current clip was 'rolling'.

In Resolve, one needs to pause, edit, then go back to the set part of the timeline, which I find quite cumbersome.

Would it help if Resolve enabled the existing 'View > Show Fixed Playhead' on all pages, not just the Fairlight page?

This command should also toggle the Free Playhead / Lock Playhead in the cut page, but currently does not. Perhaps you can post this on the feature request area?

Have you tried selecting Fixed Playhead in the Timeline Display menu? ;)

Yes, but that's not the feature us users are wanting. We are wanting an equivalent to the timeline playback auto scroll setting called "No Scroll" in Premiere Pro, allowing us to make edits in one area of the timeline (and zooming in), while being able to have playback going elsewhere without having our entire screen jump. We all are wanting this specifically in the edit page. Thanks Charles.
