2nd audio source drops off after fixing sync

PostWed Jul 02, 2025 5:56 pm

I have footage where there was a production sound guy who provided a 6-channel polywav file. The internal recording for the lav was also provided as a 2nd audio source. The camera timecode is off by 1 frame; so, after AutoSyncing in DaVinci by timecode, I have to fix sync. It is very difficult to fix the sync by 1 frame; I would fix it, then do a test render, and the audio will have moved 2 frames instead of one. By going to Media Pool / Select clip / Audio / Waveform / click "unlink" icon, then moving the audio 1 frame (which moves it two frames), then moving it back 1 frame, the test render came out correct. However, the 2nd audio source (lav internal recording) would disconnect from the synced clip.

How do I fix sync by 1 frame while keeping both production sound sources connected to the synced clip?

What if you synced by sound instead of timecode?

Thank you for the reply. I tried that as well, but got the same result.

They were a frame out of sync when syncing by audio? :o

Not sure would cause that. All frame rates are identical? (Even 23.976 and 24 are technically 'different'.)

Production didn't record scratch audio, so I wasn't able to sync by waveform. That might have saved the day.
