Inaccurate frame rate calculation of clips in Edit mode

PostWed Apr 18, 2018 2:21 pm

I'm trying to "Change Clip Speed" of 29.97 fps source clips on a 24 fps project on the edit page. The issue I'm running into is that "Change Clip Speed" prompt acts as if the the clips are the frame rate of the project, and not rate of the clips. So if I wanted to play back my 29.97 fps source clips at 24 fps, or change its playback speed to 80%, the prompt then drops playback rate to 19.2 fps.

As an editor, I'd expect the "Change Clip Speed" to reflect frame rate of the source clip, but maybe also note "Hey dummy- this project is XXX FPS, we're gonna play it back at the project frame rate, but you have {Source Clip Framerate} to play with"...

you'll need to use Clip Attributes at the bin level instead. Note that the Mixed Frame Rate setting of the project needs to be set to Resolve or Final Cut Pro 7 for the frame rate to be able to be changed this way, if it's set to None or Final Cut Pro X then all clip frame rates will be conformed to the project rate. Which may be what you want anyway.
