iMac 5k - Optical Flow leads to dropped frames

PostMon May 14, 2018 3:13 pm

Hi all,
just purchased a new imac 5k (specs below). Want to thoroughly test it.

Performance was good so far. 1080 timeline with several nodes have smooth playback. I have 50fps tracks on 25fps timeline hence 50% slowmo. When reducing fps further by changing clip speed with optical flow, things start to get choppy. What could be the reason?

Default setting for retiming is “nearest”. I’m wondering if i have not optimal settings or the iMac is simply too weak? If so I will give it back.

Davinci Resolve 14.3
MacOS High Sierra
iMac Retina 5K 2017
8Gb RAM
Core i5 3,8GHz
2TB Fusion Drive (incl 128 Gb SSD)
AMD Radeon Pro 580 with 8 Gb RAM
