OMF AAF export for post sound

PostTue May 15, 2018 5:08 am

Hey all, I have a couple questions about receiving an exported Resolve session for post sound.

I've never used Resolve, I do post sound, and normally receive and AAF or OMF, and do the post in either Reaper or Pro Tools, and then send back whatever WAVs are requested. Normally I get one file and everything is wrapped up. The experience with Resolve was quite different. I was on the phone with the filmmaker for a couple hours saying try this, try that, and nothing worked. I would get an AAF accompanied buy a bunch of MXF files, and Pro Tools couldn't do anything with it. The OMF came with a bunch of .MOV files. I ended downloading Resolve, and even getting the Resolve session up and running was really hard!! No doubt because it was my first time using it, but I guess I'm just shocked that exporting isn't... easy.

Is this because Resolve is still in beta?
Is there a set of specific instructions to receive what one would normally receive from one of the other well known NLEs?

I've read forum posts for workarounds, I see some people convert it into a Premiere session and then export an OMF. I've read quite a few forum posts, but some are for older versions, and I guess I just can't find a definitive answer on the current state of exporting for post on the most recent version of Resolve.
Is this something the company isn't focusing on heavily since now Resolve contains an audio editor?

If there is a way please let me know!!

thanks so much!

As many people use Resolve for post work, inc exporting to other audio tools, you likely need to understand how Resolve works. You can export AAF and also make a render specifically for ProTools v12.x.
Some system info would not go astray either. Please review
