Create a compound clip (collapse a series of video clips down into a single clip). Wait for the smart cache to render (red bar --> blue). Open the compound clip in its own timeline.
Is there a reason the render cache from the parent isn't used inside the compound clip timeline (and potentially vice-versa)?
