Alpha in Compound or fusion clips not working

PostTue Jun 05, 2018 3:07 pm

I have been testing Resolve 15 beta 4. The recent release notes mentioned: “Addressed an issue with alpha handling for Compound clips and Fusion clips”.

However I still get an issue with alpha for Compound clips and Fusion clips. For instance, if I create a Compound clip or a Fusion clip from one single PNG with a transparent background, the alpha works fine, and I can still see any content on the tracks below… but if I create a Compound clip or a Fusion clip from two or more stacked PNGs with transparent backgrounds, the background becomes black and it covers all of the bellow tracks showing no alpha or transparency at all.

Could you please help me with this?

Thank you.

I have had a similar problem, and the video projects that I will be doing require a working alpha channel from a compound clip, and I have had a lot of grief trying to get DaVinci Resolve to give me a good compound clip alpha channel. If anybody can help, I would love that, because this one reason is why I am not going to be using DaVinci Resolve and am about to read terms and conditions for Adobe Premiere Pro and sign up for it. I would prefer that around $23 a month not go to Adobe when I would like to use DaVinci Resolve (I really like Resolve and would like to get the studio version in the future if the compound clip alpha channel were to be worked out), but this one feature not working is enough for me to subscribe to Premiere Pro.
