Maybe next time actualy rtfm before harshly complaining about basic features such as this.
In you project settings dialog there is a sectoin where you can both set the cache location and cache format which is just as important. Has been these since the stone ages.

Drxian,

Preface : I am new to Resolve.

<Shift 9> : Working folders tab.

Initially I used a TB2 HDD RAID for everything - but have found using my System SSD to stored ProResLT Cache clips to be gives a noticeably higher frame rate.

Compressing the Cache Clips gives a good balance (for my system) between performance and the rate the Sys SSD fills up.

Thoughts
+) Perhaps BM could introduce a 'Maximum % utilisation' of Disc that Cache is allowed to consume (Defaulting to 95%).
+) I'd quite like a PURGE ALL cache & Optimised media in DB option as well - and some sort of indication on how much (eg GB) that is each project is using (If this feature is in the Manual that I have not read yet - apologies!)

Resolve Studio : v16.1.2.026
Mac Pro (2013) : Catalina 10.15.3 : 3.0GHz 10-Core/64GB
Dual AMD FirePro D700 6GB
RRX : TB2 (Sonnet Echo Express III-D)
Camera : Monstro VV : 8K R3D : 4K UHD Timeline
Cache : Sys SSD / Clips & PJ : Areca 24TB
