Is beta 5 slower?

PostSat Jun 30, 2018 3:17 am

Hey all,

Been using all the betas for a while now, I dont have the best GPU, just a nvidia 1070 with 8GB ram. I do have a Threadripper cpu with 64gb ram and all nvme SSD drives though. I have a single video track with no VFX, I drag/drop a title on to the timeline.. one of the new fusion ones, and it is dog slow.. it often skips showing much of the animation of the title having to cache the render.. even after that it still is sluggish..this for a 3 second title.

This seems oddly very slow/sluggish to me.. given the v14 10x improvement in performance over 12.5.. I dont recall 12.5 being this sluggish. I know it is beta, so that could be why.. but just wondering if anyone else is seeing a drastic slow down with very little going on?

I have mixed multiple tracks with basic FX and such in the past, nothing super fancy but a lot more than I have going on now and never noticed the slow down.

I have even turned performance on and off, turned proxy to off, 1/2 and 1/4, etc. I give the app 48GB of my 64GB ram, set up the cache on separate ssd from boot/app drive, etc.

So just making sure I am not missing something.

FWIW, I have found Beta 5 to be a huge leap forward in terms of responsiveness. I was so happy ... just rockin' solid.

I had issues with the GPU driver in the beginning, then went back to the basic driver without the bells/whistles. That seemed to have been the solution, have not updated the driver since.

Good luck, you have powerful hardware so it may be a setting.
