Server Database

PostTue Jul 03, 2018 8:56 pm

Hi I've installed the DaVinci 15 Database on my Windows 10 server.
when I'm in the studio I can connect to the database from my PC Workstation and from my laptop... now I tried to connect to the database from my home office via VPN but with no success. What is the difference between being really in the same network and the VPN connection?

Do I have to configure something on the server ?

An other question regarding the database, how do I delete a database ? I created one to test how the creation process works - but now in can't find no option to rename the database or to delete the test database...

Thanks

The Project Server app only supports allowing access to systems on the same iP subnet.

We don't give you a method to delete PostgreSQL databases from Resolve.

As the manual states, if you really want to do that, you need to do it from a PostgreSQL command line command, or using the PostgreSQL pgAdmin III app.

If you are on Windows, pgAdmin III will be in the PostgreSQL 9.5 folder in the Applications area of the Start menu.

Not if you use the Project Server app to manage the database(s).

If you manually configure the database access, you can set the access permissions any way you desire.

Some PostgreSQL config knowledge would be helpful. Modding the pg_hba.conf file on the server would be involved.

Note that we don't recommend doing that for Resolve, as access latency over a remote connection could affect Resolve performance.

Hi Dwaine,

I have two scenarios:

1.) Shooting, doing a rough cut and some grading on location - return to my studio and import the footage into an existing project i.e. for a documentary

2.) having external artists work on fusion comps for a project living in my DaVinci Database

Are there any recommended workflows for this kind of work?
Can I merge an external Database into an existing one?

Thanks

You can edit pg_hba.conf to allow all IP addresses to connect to the PSQL server with a very permissive setting like:

Code: Select all
host    all             all             0.0.0.0/0            md5

If your server is accessible from the Internet any client could connect. Obviously, this is not a good idea, but it would allow you to test the connection.

Hi Igor,

would it be possible to allow the internal sup network and the VPN subnet?
