choosing I/O audio device for multiple channels

PostFri Jul 06, 2018 7:46 am

I am a intensive fairlight user and want to make surround (and more) multiple channel output work for special projects.
In the Resolve 15 preferences tab, video-audio in/out device, it is only possible to select multiple outputs from 1 device.
8i/8o audio cards (tested Roland, Behringer, Scarlett) show up in windows 10 as 4 separate stereo devices.
For controlroom or monitor output purposes you should be able to choose from the different outputs. (hence, acceptably restricted within one device)
In resolve, once I select the appropriate device, it is not possible within resolve to choose multiple pairs from the same i/o unit.
With a decklink card it is possible to choose from more than one output, but i want to use other devices as well.
I think, for surround (or more) outputs it should be made possible to select from (at least within one main device) multiple output pairs.
In other software like Premiere and Vegas this works intuitively well.
I tried the Fairlight i/o patch functions but the other output pairs from the same device are greyed out, so not reachable.
Even better: make it possible to do an additional time (and even phase) alignment function on each output. That would be awesome!

Maybe I am completely wrong here or I missed something, please let me know what you are thinking
