DNxHR vs DNxHD for Half HD and FHD

PostSun Jul 08, 2018 9:02 pm

I know the technical differences between the two codecs. I just wanted to know if there is a reason to use DNxHD instead of DNxHR since I can easily set the resolution to HD when exporting with DNxHR.

I personally prefer DNxHR just for the fact that I can set custom resolutions for the render, but I am not 100% sure if it is technically okay to do that.

What do you think?

The only case for use of DNxHD would be compatibility issues with older software which may not support DNxHR (don't think they are many of them now). Other than this there is no reason to use DNxHD over DNxHR.

Thanks Andrew. That's what I thought, tbh. I appreciate your help :)
