First, it said "Failed to install Davinci Resolve Panels", and that was that. I found where someone else had that issue, but didn't need Panels, & was able to continue with installing Davinci Resolve. When I tried continuing, a Windows Installer window opened, saying that it was installing, but there was no bar, nor was there any activity of it showing in the Task Manager. After a little time, I received the message "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.", & upon closing, "Failed to install Davinci Resolve 15.0.0b.065".
My computer was bought October of 2014, so should have come with Windows Installer 5.0, there's no redistributable for that version, but there is for 4.5. I've had no problems with Windows Installer, last I installed something, and don't want to downgrade to 4.5, as 5.0 would be unavailable, unless there's a guarantee that would solve the issue.
So, my question is, is this an issue with the Windows Installer? or a compatibility issue?
I have the ASUS X551MAV, using Win8.1.
Additionally, if the issue is Windows Installer; how do I fix it? & what is Davinci Resolve Panels/what will I be missing out on?
