Hello all,
About a month ago we started using Resolve for editing our adventure travel series. I have been using it non-stop and I'ts already our primary NLE. I've gotten to know it fairly well and I have to say I am liking it so far. My question is on logging and metadata.
For our show, we have around 30 segments organized in folders (by shoot, A Roll, B-Roll, ect.) We are looking for a way to log all of the footage with metadata, for example, tags and markers with comments, and have it all searchable, independent of an individual Resolve project. I know Resolve has a great metadata system for logging all kinds of info, but as far as I have found it seems to be contained within only the project the metadata was created in.
I am looking for a way do all the logging once, and search through and filter by this metadata in any project. Is there some way in which Resolve will store the metadata inside or alongside the footage and not just within a Resolve project?
I have also found that apparently you can export the metadata from a project as a .csv. So I suppose one workflow could be to have a massive master project will all 30 segments imported where all the logging takes place, and then to export the metadata from there, then import it to any project that I am working on. But I could see that getting pretty unwieldy.
What workflow would you use if you wanted to be able to create and search metadata from a very large amount of footage that was going to be edited in 30 smaller separate projects?
Thank you for your help!
