Sound gone from b7

PostTue Jul 31, 2018 12:43 am

Hey there guys.
Just installed b7 and instantly there is no sound.
I had started a new project so I saved it and loaded the previous one done in b6. It's sound has gone too.
The waveforms are visible on the timeline but there is just no sound showing on the meters or heard on my speakers.
The sound was fine in b6.
I'll go back to b6.

Can you check your speaker selection setup in preferences?

I just reinstalled b6 and the sound was gone too. So I checked the sound preferences as you suggested and found the wrong output was set (I am using the Analog 1,2 outputs of a MOTU Traveller). Some little gremlin must have decided that I REALLY wanted a couple of the other analog outs - which go nowhere.
Sigh. I'll reinstal b7 and check the preferences! Thankyou!

Reinstalled b7 and the sound works right away. What I had to do for b6 a few minutes ago was set my sound preferences from auto to manual and then select the right output (1-2) from my MOTU Traveler.
I do have rather a lot of sound problems with win10. It seems around 50% of the time it boots up claiming to have no audio device. Usually a reboot fixes the problem. Not sure what those guys down in Redmond are doing but win 7 was a far more stable, and usefull operating system.
