Image disturbances due to frame rate mismatch?

PostTue Jul 31, 2018 9:38 pm

Hello!

I have recorded video with 29.97 fps. When I set up Resolve, I set the timeline to 30fps by mistake. I did not think this would have any significance, but this resulted in temporary interference in the upper part of the image (in the image in the timeline window). See attached pictures where one has a disturbance and in the picture immediately after it is gone.

Is this correct? Should it be like this?

Hello again,
Sorry but I forgot to attach the images referred to. Here they are.

Optical Flow I highly dependent on image content, in your case it's just producing crap.
But you can set the interpolation on a per project basis.

If you don't have sound (or only short passages) you may want to conform the clips under clip attributes to avoid any visual problems.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

There is a difference. You should fix it properly by setting the correct timebase. If you need a new project for this, so be it. (You can copy/paste the clips into it.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

You should learn here and never do such a thing. Always set project to same fps as your assets/key assets. Any mismatch is very problematic and should be avoided. For small adjustments eg 23.976 vs. 24 or 29.97 vs. 30 you can adjust fps in clip properties.

If you need to do it then set 30fps in clip properties. There won't be any fps interpolation- it will just run 0.1% faster. You may need to adjust audio though as it will go out of synch on long clips (not sure if Resolve does it automatically).
