How do I move projects to new computer?

PostMon Aug 06, 2018 5:55 pm

I am not doing mission-critical work or have a huge DB of projects, but I have 3 small video projects on the go, but I need to reformat my computer because I am selling it - and move the projects to be completed on my laptop.

...how do I do that? :) It's also possible the paths to the source video/audio files will be different

In the project manager, right click the projects that you want to move, and select "export" or open the databases tab on the left, and export the entire DB all at once.

On the new computer, import the projects one at a time or import the database. Then when you start working on one of them, just open it. Go to the media panel, and you'll see all the missing clips, which might well be all of them. Right click on the master bin, select "relink clips in bin," and navigate to the root folder where you footage is.

If you have Stills you care about, use the Export with Stills and LUTs option from the Project Manager page.

Stills are not maintained in the database, so database backup and restore will not include Stills.

You can also use the Archive option from the Project Manager page, which will create a project archive .dra file that also includes the project media with the project. You also have the option to include cache files and optimized media in the archive, if so desired.
